Littleton, Colorado, in Arapahoe County, is 7 miles Southeast of Lakewood and 8 miles South of Denver. The city is considered part of the Denver metropolitan area. Portions of the City are also in Jefferson and Douglas County. Since July 2000, it has been served by Regional Transportation District's light rail system.
The beginnings of Littleton can be traced to the "Pikes Peak" gold rush of 1859 and in 1890, 245 residents voted to incorporate the Town of Littleton. As of 2005, the city is estimated to have a total population of 40,456. The median age was 39 years of age and the median income for a family in the city was $64,671.
Littleton is home to Hudson Gardens & Event Center, Colorado's premier outdoor regional display garden and event venue. Residents also enjoy the close proximity of Chatfield State Park, with boating and biking trails and great skiing and snowboarding are just an hour away.
